Commercial Credit Application Template
Before you extend credit to a new business customer, get them to complete a credit application. This template captures everything you need — business identity, trading terms agreement, trade references, and an optional personal guarantee from a director.
Every B2B supplier should have a signed credit application on file for each customer they extend credit to. Without one, enforcing payment terms, claiming interest, or pursuing personal liability is significantly harder. Use this template as a starting point — have your solicitor review it before use to ensure it suits your specific business and jurisdiction.

How to use this template
- Replace all items in square brackets with your own details.
- Have a solicitor review the terms of trade section to ensure the interest rate, retention of title clause, and cost-recovery clause are enforceable in your state.
- Attach your full terms of trade document to the application, or provide a link.
- Send the application to the customer before you supply goods or services on credit — not after.
- Keep the signed original in a secure file. If the account goes bad, this document is critical.
